A little bit of history on Stone Forest.
Michael Zimber founded Stone Forest in 1989 after working as a climbing and river guide for ten years. He started sculpting blocks of stone in his spare time and began building his relationship with stone and water. Now, “25 years later, Stone Forest is a group of artisans and designers focused on bringing the elegant simplicity of natural materials into the bath and garden space. Stone Forest takes their lead from nature’s blueprint, emphasizing the quiet beauty of stone, bronze, copper, wood, bamboo and iron” making it unique to other brands.
The wonders of natural stone.
According to Stone Forest, their “designs are sculpted from single blocks of stone that were formed millions of years ago. A block of stone represents centuries of accumulated time and we like to think of them as “recorders of nature’s memory”.”
With every cut, a unique characteristic of the stone comes to light Including “individual fingerprints of nature, such as anomalies in the form of areas of enhanced coloration and unusual veining and swirls of color in the stone.” Stone Forest reveals that a great deal of their carving is done by hand with “calculated blows from a hammer and chisel. They also use small diamond saws and hand-held polishing tools, but because the sinks are not machined each will be a little different, and truly exceptional.”
No stone will ever be perfectly symmetrical and there will be small variations in size making each piece different from the other so our clients truly take home an art piece from the showroom. Each and every block of stone from Stone Forest “has its own personality; expressed in slight differences in the makeup of its crystalline structure.” Cesario & Co appreciates the wonders of Stone Forests’ natural stone and its unique characteristics.
